What's Happening Now?

Below is the updated schedule for this weekend and upcoming week of construction work: 

We will not be doing any construction work on the 3rd Ave and Main project for this upcoming weekend (April 19-20).  

Next week (April 21-April 25), we will do the following work at the below locations: 

  • 3rd Ave S Sidewalk on west side between S Main St and S Washington St
    • Install the electrical conduits and backfill the trenches
    • Excavate and prep the sidewalk area to install footings (for handrails, etc.)
    • Pour the concrete for the curb 

During construction, we will restrict parking and loading on the east side of 3rd Ave.  
You can still reach the Frye Garage - a uniformed Police Officer will guide traffic when and where needed. 

We will host our next virtual Q&A Session on April 29, 2025 from 4-5pm. In this event, we will share project updates and answer the public’s questions regarding our progress and impacts. See the information to join below:

Project Overview

Our project will: 

  • Widen sidewalks 
  • Reconstruct pavement 
  • Repaint crosswalks 
  • Add pedestrian lighting 
  • Plant new trees 
  • We will also update the bus stop by - 
    • Adding new seating   
    • Installing real-time bus arrival information sign   
    • Installing an ORCA card reader

When are we making these improvements? (Project Schedule)

The schedule below shows planned milestones:

  • Jan 2025: Construction began
    • Construction is expected to end by Summer 2025*

*Construction timelines and milestones can change based on weather and other impacts. We will provide updates throughout construction to keep the public informed. 

Funding

This project is possible through our partnership with King County Metro (KCM). KCM received federal grant money from the Federal Transit Authority (FTA), which funds many of the project's components. Other funding sources include the Seattle Transit Measure, Move Seattle Levy, King County Metro, Seattle City Light and Seattle Public Utilities.
