Dan Anderson
Dan Anderson is the Public Engagement Manager, overseeing the team and managing communications and engagement on major projects. In his government career, he's served as a communications manager and public information officer (PIO) at the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT), King County Department of Transportation, King County Metro, Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), and for the Mayor of Portland. He has a bachelor's in English literature and master's in business administration from the University of Washington, and a master's in journalism from the University of Oregon. Dan was born and raised in greater Portland, Ore., where his family has sold trucks parts since 1935, and currently lives in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood with his wife, daughters, and cat.
Darrell Bulmer
Darrell Bulmer is a Public Engagement Lead for the Central Sector. He has overseen communications and outreach teams for more than 13 years both regionally and nationally. Most recently, Darrell directed communications at Hopelink, one of the region's largest nonprofits. Prior to that he directed a state agency on the East Coast where he oversaw an array of community development and engagement projects. He served as a registered lobbyist in Washington, D.C., and acted as the spokesperson and media liaison for seven state agencies. Darrell spent his formal years in England and graduated from college and university there before moving to the United States to study business management and marketing. Throughout college Darrell interned at a theatre in New York providing marketing support for Broadway shows. He went on to produce several live theatre events. In his free time, Darrell visits the gym, explores the wilderness, flies drones, or goes kayaking.
Ching Chan
Ching Chan is a Senior Public Engagement Lead supporting the South Sector of the city. She has over 10 years of experience in community development and engagement. Ching has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Community, Environment, and Planning as well as a master's degree in Urban Design and Planning at University of Washington. She had previously worked at SCIDpda, a community development organization serving the Chinatown International District. During her tenure at the SCIDpda, Ching has worked on a number of community-led placemaking and capital projects in the CID. Ching is deeply passionate about race and social justice as well as learning about different cultures through culinary experiences. In her free time, Ching enjoys volunteering and giving back to the community and exploring local eateries.
Christa Dumpys
Christa Dumpys is a Senior Public Engagement Lead for the North Sector of the city. She has been doing community-based work for over 20 years in various roles within government and non-profit organizations. She hails from the Midwest and has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from St. Olaf College, and a Master's in Social Work degree from University of Michigan. In between degrees she served in the Peace Corps in Malawi doing AIDS prevention work and also worked in Chicago teaching English to immigrants. A love of the mountains brought her to Seattle after graduate school and she began working for Seattle Parks and Recreation in 2001, overseeing staff and programs at several different community centers. In 2005 she transitioned to the Department of Neighborhoods (DON) where she served for 12 years as a community liaison. In her time at DON she spearheaded a leadership training program called the People's Academy for Community Engagement (PACE). In January 2018, she began working with SDOT's project delivery team with a focus on north Seattle projects. She has been using her extensive knowledge and experience in north Seattle neighborhoods to lead outreach on complex and large-scale paving, sidewalk, and transit projects at SDOT.
Candace Goodrich
Candace is a Public Engagement Lead for the Central sector. She has built her career at the nexus of people, the environment and transportation. Originally from Minnesota, she moved to the Pacific Northwest to earn her bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. From there, she headed east and received her master’s degree in climate change from Columbia University in New York. Candace’s passion for transportation took off while living in New York City where she saw how reliable, efficient public transportation systems can mitigate climate change and connect communities. After grad school she moved back to Seattle and has worked for over 10 years in community engagement on transportation and planning projects throughout Washington and Oregon. She is committed to furthering equity and social justice both inside and outside of work and strives to center equity at every step of a project. She now lives in West Seattle with her husband, Siberian husky and cat. In her spare time, Candace enjoys hiking, being a West Seattle super fan and cheering on her beloved Minnesota Vikings.
Lisa Harrison
Lisa Harrison is a Public Engagement Lead in the South Sector of the city. Lisa was born and raised in Seattle. She moved away for 25 years - living in New York City, Los Angeles, and Portland before returning to Seattle in late 2015. She earned a Geography/Environmental Studies degree from California State University, Northridge, and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University. Just before to returning to the Northwest, Lisa worked for an environmental education non-profit in Santa Monica, in direct support of the City of Santa Monica's Sustainable City Plan. Prior to joining the Project Delivery team, she worked at HNTB as an urban planner, working on the Lynnwood Link and West Seattle and Ballard Link Extension, as well as WSDOT I-405 projects. In 2016, Lisa converted her Dutch-style bicycle to an e-bike and enjoys bike commuting in everyday clothes. In her free time, Lisa is often exploring the city to discover and support new vegan restaurants, hiking with her boyfriend and two rescue dogs, and pursuing her passion for photography.
Matthew Howard
Matt Howard is a Public Engagement Associate. Before beginning this role, he was in SDOT’s Street Use division, where he created training materials related to the Accela Olympics and other learning tools. He also provided critical communications support in building out new web content related to the transition and the Safe Start permitting programs and other pandemic-related outreach strategies for the subdivision. Matt an extensive knowledge of and commitment to race and social justice work which was informed by his doctoral work from the University of Washington. He brings this subject matter expertise to the job, putting research and community expectations together to craft meaningful outreach materials.
Jules Posadas
Jules is a Public Engagement Lead supporting the North Sector of the city. He has over 15 years of experience in community development and engagement. He had previously worked with the City of Seattle in various roles, including as a Capital Projects Planner with the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department, Senior Planner in the Human Services Department, and Strategic Advisor with the Office of Civil Rights. One of his proudest accomplishments was being a co-lead for the Race and Social Justice Change Team working to advance social justice initiatives and undoing institutional racism. He’s passionate about lifting community voices and applying an equity lens in all his work. Jules grew up in Seattle, graduated from the University of Washington, and lives in the same block in Ballard he used to deliver newspapers to as a kid. When Jules is not working, you can find him enjoying walks and bike rides with his wife and two children to different parks around the city or volunteering with the Filipino Community of Seattle where he serves as a board member.
Mia Vinson
Mia is a Public Engagement Lead for the North Sector in the city. She is an outreach lead for several projects in the North Sector, including North Seattle Sidewalks, Greenwood Sidewalks, 30th Ave NE Sidewalks and 15th Ave NE/ NE 105th St Bridge Seismic Retrofit. Mia is also a part of the outreach team for the citywide Stay Healthy Streets program, where she is the lead for both Greenwood and Alki locations. In addition to Stay Healthy Streets, she works as the outreach lead for SDOT's ADA Program. Mia was born and raised in Seattle, where she earned her Bachelor's of Arts in Communications from Seattle University. Before working at SDOT, she worked as a Community Engagement Coordinator for Dick's Drive-In Restaurants. In her free time, she enjoys shopping and watching sports.
