Project Background

The Pinehurst Light Rail Station is planned to open in 2026 and will connect North Seattle to the existing Link Light Rail 1 Line, which extends from Lynnwood through Seattle to SeaTac Airport and Angle Lake.

Curb and Parking Planning

In preparation, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) and Sound Transit are working together to review parking conditions in the area around the Pinehurst station. We have several goals for this project:

  • Encourage walking, biking, and use of public transportation to get to and from the new light rail station.
  • Understand parking conditions before and after the light rail station opens and identify any major changes.
  • Evaluate all-day light rail commuter parking on neighborhood streets around the station to decide if additional parking management is required.
  • With any changes to parking management, prioritize short-term parking and loading options for visitors, businesses, organizations, schools, and parks.

Existing Conditions Study

As a first step in understanding existing conditions, we are working together with Sound Transit to complete a parking study in fall 2025. The study will survey existing parking supply and parking occupancy for streets around the future station. This data, coupled with a study after the light rail station opens, will inform decisions about how to manage the curb to accomplish the goals stated above.
