This project has been completed.
Project overview
This Safe Routes to School project will make it safer and easier for kids to walk and bike to school by improving the intersection at E Lynn St and 19th Ave E near Montlake Elementary School.
The project will include:
- Sidewalk restoration on 19th Ave E and E Lynn St
- An all-way stop to improve the flow of traffic through the intersection
- A curb bulb to shorten the crossing distance for people walking
- ADA-compliant curb ramps for better accessibility
- A raised crosswalk to increase the visibility of pedestrians
Similar projects are being constructed at 31 Seattle schools this year. Projects include new crosswalks, new sidewalks, new signals, and traffic calming on the walking routes to school.
Schedule
SDOT completed final design in September 2016. We expect construction to begin in spring 2018.
Funding
This project is funded by the 9-year Levy to Move Seattle , approved by voters in 2015. Additional funding comes from a Washington State Department of Transportation grant and our local Safe Routes to School program.
