Music Venue Zones

Updated November 24

What's Happening Now?

The Seattle City Council voted to approve the Music Venue Zone Permit Program. SDOT will begin accepting applications from qualifying venues in early 2025. The permit will have a $250 annual fee.

The Music Venue Zone Permit Program will provide reliable parking and loading space for touring musicians and their crews at qualifying music venues. Qualifying music venues can apply for one permit each.  Each permit creates up to three designated Music Venue Zones, which SDOT will install.  Music Venue Zones allow parking and loading with a valid permit displayed 24 hours a day, 7-days a week. Vehicles in Music Venue Zones without permits will be ticketed and towed. Music Venue Zones are intended for use by musicians and their supporting crews for parking, loading, and unloading.  The permit will have a $250 annual fee.

To qualify for the permit, music venues must:

  • Have a valid City of Seattle business license
  • Host live music events at least two different days each week
  • Charge a fee for entry for live music events

In reviewing Music Venue Zone permit applications, SDOT will also evaluate existing parking conditions near venues. SDOT will also engage with adjacent businesses to understand and balance curbspace access.
