Rainier Ave S + S Henderson St Improvement Projects

August 2026

We’re making Rainier Ave S as well as S Henderson St better for people using the streets, sidewalks, transit, and public spaces. These projects focus on maintaining and modernizing the streets to make it safer and more comfortable for you no matter how you travel. Our goals are to reconstruct the street, update utilities, and make it easier to walk, bike, and cross. These projects support King County Metro’s proposed upgrade of the Route 7 to the RapidRide R line and is one of the largest corridor investments in the Seattle Transportation Levy.

This project is funded by the Seattle Transportation Levy.

  • 2025 - 2027: Project development and early design
  • 2028 - 2029: Final design and pre-construction planning
  • 2029 - 2032: Construction
  • Ongoing: Community engagement
