RPZ Virtual Permits

New RPZ Permits Going Virtual

What is happening?

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is moving to a virtual permitting system for RPZ permits. No more decals!  As of the date of the next renewal of your zone (below), we will no longer issue physical decals. Your license plate(s) will be stored electronically. If you order a guest pass, you will still receive a physical hangtag.

For more information on the RPZ application process, how to use your permits, and how to renew or replace them, go to our FAQ page.

Why are we doing this?

This move to virtual is part of a long-term vision to migrate parking and many permits to license plate-based systems. We migrated all on-street paid parking away from sticky tickets to license plate-based in 2019, and our customers adjusted well—we see very few issues and that's for 1 million transactions per month!
