Lake City Parking and Access Review
Updated June 27, 2022
What's happening now?
SDOT is collecting parking occupancy and data in summer/fall and planning to engage with local stakeholders improve short term neighborhood parking and access within the public right of way. See study area map below.
Project Background and Purpose
SDOT has not completed a review of curbspace in the Lake City Urban Village since 2017 (to see the 2017 data results, click here). As growth and new development occurs in Lake City Urban Village, it’s important that curbspace management (parking and loading) also change to reflect new growth, changes in delivery patterns, and manage parking in commercial areas. The goals of the project are:
- Review existing load zones for adequacy and efficient placement
- As necessary, improve pedestrian visibility at intersections and crossings, in line with local and state guidelines
- Improve curbspace parking availability and turnover to reduce congestion by those seeking parking, cognizant of new and pipeline developments
