Community Learning Centers
in cooperation with Seattle Public School
Seattle Parks and Recreation operates Community Learning Centers (CLCs) based at Seattle Public Schools. Programs are held in Out-of-School Time (OST): after school, at lunchtime, and on Mid-Winter, Spring and Summer Breaks. CLCs are active in four middle schools and one elementary school, serving 3,300 students each year.
CLC Coordinators and school administrators work together to create age-appropriate programs that serve each school's unique needs. CLC's feature all kinds of programs: academic, enrichment/recreation, mental health, college/career readiness, culturally specific, and family engagement.
CLCs are funded through the Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise (FEPP) Levy along with grants from Best Start for Kids (King County) and Youth Development Executives of King County (YDEKC).
