Soundview Playfield Athletic Field Renovation

Updated: May 13, 2025

Spring 2025

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is happy to announce that we have awarded the construction contract for this project to Terra Dynamics, Inc. They will mobilize onsite in early May. A groundbreaking event will take place on May 28, 2025, with the project to be completed in Fall 2025.

SPR is converting the existing natural turf playfield to an all-season, multi-sport synthetic turf playfield with lights, accessible pathways, and park amenities. This will include a new synthetic turf field with lighting that offers accessible softball, baseball, football, and soccer field. SPR and Terra Dynamics will work to minimize the construction impact on the neighborhood. Thank you in advance to the Whitman Middle School community and the Crown Hill / North Beach community for your patience and cooperation during construction.

In the summer of 2020, the City of Seattle turned its focus to essential functions to address the pandemic and economic crisis, which required a significant reprioritization of resources. Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) suspended some capital project work, including this project. In 2023, we started moving this project forward; however, because of budget constraints at SPR, the project was again put on hold.  The Seattle Park District Cycle 2 provided funding and helped move this project forward.
