Magnolia Playfield Lighting

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is beginning planning and design work for the replacement of the playfield lighting system at Magnolia Playfield southeast of the Magnolia Community Center. The SPR team has hired DMD Consulting Engineers to develop designs and construction drawings for the project. Next steps include conducting a geotechnical study to inform the design and location of the new light pole foundations.

$1,588,532 from the Seattle Metropolitan Parks District funding

Planning and Design: Late 2024 - Early 2026
Construction Begins: Summer 2026
Construction Completion: Winter 2026

Project Description

This project is part of an ongoing effort to update old playfield lighting systems throughout our park system. The new lighting systems will reduce light spill into surrounding homes and night skies, use more energy-efficient LED lights and provide safe, uniform lighting levels for field users. The existing poles and fixtures will be demolished at this field. New poles, fixtures and electrical control equipment will be installed.
