Magnolia Community Center Stabilization

Updated: March 6, 2025

Spring 2025

Construction is well underway at the Community Center and the project remains on schedule. The Contractor has been working on interior improvements during the winter and will pick back up with roofing and window replacement as the weather gets warmer.

Once the Contractor has completed their work, Seattle Park and Recreation’s (SPR) Facility and Maintenance crews will begin renovating the rest of the spaces not in the Contractor’s scope of work including floor refinishing, painting, landscaping, exterior repairs and furnishings. This work will take 3-4 weeks. Community Center Staff will begin their 3-week move-in and set-up period. We are targeting an August 1, 2025 soft opening date to coincide with Summerfest. A grand re-opening celebration date will be determined as we get closer to summer. Formal programming will begin in Fall 2025.

SPR awarded the construction contract to Kassel & Associates, Inc. They mobilized and began work on June 10, 2024. Community members will see construction fencing erected closely around the Community Center to allow continued sidewalk access. Kassel & Associates has elected to house the job site office within the building to reduce the staging footprint onsite. The construction staging area provides uninterrupted access to the parking lot for Catherine Blaine Elementary teachers, staff, children, and their families.

Thank you to the Community for your input, advocacy and support during the planning and design stages of this project.
