Longfellow Creek Bridge Replacement

Updated: September 9, 2024

Fall 2024

This project's scope is to replace the old wooden bridge that failed in Fall 2020 with a new steel truss bridge that will last much longer and be easier to maintain. The original bridge was struck by a fallen tree, which caused it to fail structurally and partially fall into the creek. We have successfully obtained the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s HPA over water crossing permits. The bridge is currently under internal design review as well as undergoing the Seattle Department of Construction & Inspections (SDCI) permit approval process. View the plan drawing of the Longfellow Creek Truss Bridge here.

Due to new design criteria, identifying local vendors who can provide pricing and delivery has delayed the 90% design submission of this project. Our goal is to have a final new design and begin the replacement as soon as SDCI approves this design, which has required additional geotechnical studies and reports. We are targeting to have the bridge in place before the end of the year. This project will be completed by SPR's in-house staff.
