How To Volunteer

Volunteers help us build and maintain our forest lands, improve our shorelines, keep our parks healthy!

Volunteer Calendar

Check out our SPR Volunteer Calendar for current volunteer opportunities in Community Centers, Pools, and Parks. Green Seattle Partnership hosts most of the outdoor volunteer opportunities.

Private Group Projects

Our gardeners and landscapers welcome help from extra hands from your private group, such as an employer or a church. Projects include:

  • Weeding shrub beds,
  • Mulching trees,
  • Ballfield maintenance,
  • Play area maintenance,
  • Invasive plant management.

To organize your one-time event, please contact parksvolunteer@seattle.gov

Recreation Programs

Please contact your local Community Center, Pool, or Community Learning Center directly for volunteer opportunities at those locations and application forms.

Environmental Education

See Environmental Education volunteer opportunities.

Park Inspections

The Park Volunteer Inspection program invites community members to assist Seattle Parks and Recreation in surveying parks. Park Inspection Volunteers receive training from parks resources staff.

Court Ordered Community Service

Fulfill your court ordered community service at events on the volunteer calendar

Bring the letter from the court to use as a sign-in sheet for each event and obtain a site lead signature. Alternately, you can download an individual sign-in sheet for the site lead to sign as proof of volunteer hours. Please note that Seattle Parks and Recreation does not write completion letters to local courts.
