About

South Park Community Center is in the heart of southwest Seattle's small but ethnically diverse neighborhood. Originally built in the late 1980’s, a major capital improvement project was recently completed on the South Park campus, which reopened to the community in May 2026. The facility is a modern adobe-style building with a vaulted ceiling in the lobby and several large windows that look out onto a new turf field. Upgrades to the facility include the redesign and relocation of the lobby, reception desk, and staff offices, along with the creation of a Preschool Room and upgrades to the Multipurpose Room, Teen Room, kitchen and restrooms. Less visible but critical improvements that will extend the life of the building include roof maintenance and new heating and cooling systems.

The building itself is now the City’s second fully decarbonized community center, consistent with City-wide goals to support renewable energy sources. Outside of the building, improvements include converting the playfield to turf and building a new off-leash area for dogs, along with creating a new play area and spray park for neighborhood youth. An outdoor sport court and outdoor pickleball court was created as well. Landscaping and other site improvements were also made, creating more usable and comfortable spaces for all.

South Park Community Center is very community oriented, hosting several popular community events. Among them are the Spring Egg Hunt, Family Movie Nights, Back To School Bash, and Toddler Halloween Festival. The center also offers regular programming and classes for all ages including After School childcare, Summer Day Camp, Teen Late Night, Toddler Indoor Gym, youth basketball leagues and drop-in classes, adult drop-in basketball, drop-in pickleball, and more!
