Carkeek Park Pedestrian Bridge Replacement
Updated: May 14, 2025
Spring 2025
Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) recently completed geotechnical work for the project. This work was necessary to assess soil conditions critical to the design and construction of the new pedestrian bridge.
Thank you to everyone who provided input through our survey and at the tabling event in fall 2023. We’re working on preparing preferred bridge designs and anticipate announcing those findings and opportunities for input sometime in the summer of 2025.

Anticipated Impact
As the design is developed, more information will be shared about anticipated impacts to the project site. The current assumption is that the current bridge will remain in place, and the new bridge will be built adjacent to it. Demolition of the existing bridge is planned for after the new one is open, which will limit the potential impact on beach access.
