Pre-Employment Training

Prerequisite for all work-related opportunities offered by our recreation department*

This job readiness program is designed for youth ages 13–18 and is offered quarterly during the fall, winter, and spring. Participants gain essential soft and professional skills such as resume writing, time management, communication techniques, and more. Programs are held at various Teen Life Centers and community centers throughout Seattle.

College Tours

YESL staff organizes college tours that are available to Seattle Public Schools students. These tours offer a firsthand look at college life, allowing participants to explore academic programs, experience campus environments, and hear directly from current students while gaining valuable insight into the college experience.

Career Readiness Workshops

Hosted at Teen Life Centers and community centers, these workshops are open to youth looking to build essential job preparation skills. Topics include resume and cover letter writing, interview techniques, food handler permit guidance, job application support, and more.
