We also have a bulkhead that separate shallow-water section designed specifically for lessons. 1- or 2-day per week classes are available with lessons offered Sunday through Friday. Afternoon and Evening lessons available. During some lesson times, adults can lap swim while their children are in class.

Deep Water Swim Test

To ensure the safety of children and youth using our pools, swimmers younger than 18 years of age are required by Seattle Parks and Recreation to pass a swim test to enter the deep end. The test consists of swimming two widths of the pool. While crawl stroke is preferred, alternate methods of swimming can be acceptable if the child is swimming with the body in a prone position and is making good forward progress. For additional safety, the test may be more stringent if the pool is really crowded. Final determination is based on the judgment of the lifeguard on duty.

Alternately, the child can take the swim test using a personal flotation device (life jacket). Children who pass this modified test are allowed in the deep using a life jacket.
