About

Lake City Community Center closed in early 2023 after being significantly damaged by a fire.

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) understands the importance of programming and services that this center provides the community. SPR has been working hard to relocate services in tandem with planning for a new Lake City Community Center facility.

Status and Next Steps on Providing of Recreation Programming and Services

  • Lake City Community Center is creatively serving the community’s recreation needs with the support of Akin & Build Lake City Together, Lake City Branch Library, Olympic Hills Elementary, Pinehurst Shelter House, Lake City Farmers Market, and through expanded outdoor activations at Virgil Flaim Park, Lake City Mini Park, and Albert Davis Park (leveraging the community center operations budget).
  • Lake City Community Center will continue to support planned special events.
  • Mobile Recreation will have weekly visits to Virgil Flaim Park, Lake City Farmers Market, and Lake City Court/Seattle Housing Authority.
  • Sound Generations programs were relocated to Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 12509 27th Ave NE
  • A new community center is planned for construction to start Fall 2026.

Visit the engagement hub for more information on this project and to participate in the community process.
