About

This is a busy neighborhood park! There are two baseball fields with backstops, a play area with slides and climbing features, swings, whirl, large open green space, and bathroom facilities.

Current Project

The Maple Wood Playfield and Play Area Renovation project provides a cohesive, accessible design that enhances the park for the surrounding community and city‑wide recreation. The renovation features four single stall restrooms, five play structues for different age groups designed by Universal Playground Design Principles, two natural‑turf baseball fields with upgraded irrigation and drainage, a new community gathering plaza, improved parking lot, and a picnic shelter showcasing a colorful mural by Seattle‑based artist Paz (@Pazuzu810).

We opened the renovated play areas, restrooms, picnic shelter, plaza, and parking lot in February 2026. Since then, the playfield and portions of the landscaping have remained closed to allow the new natural turf to properly establish. We appreciate the community’s patience during this critical period for ensuring the turf’s long‑term health.

Following recent assessments, SPR has confirmed that the turf now meets our standards for opening. The playfield is scheduled to open on June 26.

Help keep our parks safe and clean: leash pets, scoop waste, and remember that dogs are not permitted on playfields or play areas.
