Lower Woodland Softball Field 4 Infield Conversion

Summer 2025

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) has begun planning to convert Lower Woodland Softball Field 4, infield, from dirt to synthetic turf. We are in the process of selecting a design consultant to develop the initial site plans and assist with progressing the project through construction.

Woodland Park, Lower Woodland Softball Field 4 (Infield) - 1000 N 50th St, Seattle, WA 98103

Budget

The total budget for improvements to the infield is $1.5 million. Of this $1.5 million, $998,000 has been secured through Seattle Metropolitan Parks District (MPD) funding. $372,000 of the $1.5 million was secured through the Parks and Recreation Fund, and the remaining $130,000 was secured through the general fund.

Completion: Fall 2026

Project Description

This project aims to increase playing options for youth softball at Lower Woodland Playfields, and support safe, accessible, and quality play for users on a year-round basis, including during inclement weather. This project will convert softball field 4 infield from dirt to synthetic turf, including additional updates to the dugouts and backstop, and pathway accessibility improvements.
