Water shapes our lives, so let’s work together to shape Seattle’s water future

Shape Our Water is a 50-year plan for Seattle’s water resilience. The plan will identify community-centered, long-term investments in infrastructure, policies, and programs that will ensure Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) continues to provide exceptional services.

Shape Our Water is anchored by comprehensive, systemwide analyses and a community vision.

  • SPU has assessed the performance of our drainage and wastewater systems and analyzed how challenges like growth and climate change will affect system performance in the future. This information is being used to make smart decisions about our future improvements. You can find out more about this analysis work on our Shape Our Water Reports page.
  • The community vision and goals were developed in collaboration with many project partners and community members. During two years of outreach and engagement, we learned about our community’s goals for community and environmental health, resilience, multi-benefit investments, and community-centered partnerships.
