Annual Recycling and Reuse Report and Recycler License

Businesses and non-profits that collect, haul, or process recyclable material and are located or operating in the City of Seattle must submit a complete 2021 Seattle Annual Recycling and Reuse Report and apply for or renew their Recycler License by March 31, 2022, according to Seattle Municipal Code (SMC, 6.250.080).

Businesses and non-profits play a vital role in the City of Seattle reaching its recycling goals. Your completed 2021 Seattle Annual Recycling and Reuse Report helps inform recycling and waste prevention services and programs. In 2020, businesses and non-profits recycled or composted about 176,000 tons of material, or 61.6%. The overall recycling rate for the City is 54%.

How to submit your annual recycling and reuse report

There are two options for reporting your recycling activities:

1  Report online using the Recycler Reporting App

or

2  Follow these steps to download the 2021 Seattle Annual Recycling and Reuse Report and submit it through email:

  • Download the 2021 Seattle Annual Recycling and Reuse Report form (xlsx).
  • On the menu bar, click on "File" and then "Save As."
  • Name the file using your company name and “2021 Recycler Report,” and click on "Save."
  • Open the Excel file on your computer and enter data in the appropriate cells.
  • When you are finished, click on "File" on the menu bar, then "Save."
  • Create a new email, attach the completed form, and send it to spu_recyclerlicense@seattle.gov no later than March 31, 2022.

Failure to submit a complete and accurate 2021 Seattle Annual Recycling and Reuse Report and a Recycler License Application/Renewal by March 31, 2022 may result in fines and statutory fees of $500 or more (SMC 6.202.470).


How to submit your annual Recycler License Application/Renewal

Recycling businesses and non-profits located or operating in Seattle will receive hard copies of the recycler license application/renewal form in the mail. If your business or non-profit needs another copy, download the license form (xlsx). The license form and a check for $105 payable to "City of Seattle" must be mailed to:

The Recycler License Application/Renewal is due by March 31, 2022.
