Soundview Playfield Athletic Field Renovation

Updated: November 30, 2023

2023/2024

In the summer of 2020, the City of Seattle turned its focus to essential functions to address the pandemic and economic crisis, which required a significant reprioritization of resources. Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) suspended some capital project work including this project. In 2023, we started moving this project forward, however, because of budget constraints at SPR the project was again put on hold. We are finalizing the construction documents, re-estimating the engineer's construction cost estimate, renewing the construction/drainage permit, and messaging community and playfield stakeholders. We anticipate putting the project out to bid by the end of 2025.

This project is a conversion of an existing natural turf playfield to an all-season multi-sport synthetic turf playfield with lights and associated accessible pathways and park amenities.
