Timekeeping and Records

The Office of Labor Standards encourages you to keep all written documents that show work days and hours worked, pay rates, rest periods, meal periods, working conditions, and other agreements for domestic workers that you hire or employ. These records should be kept for at least three years.

Keeping these records gives you the information you need to ensure you are following the law and to better resolve any misunderstanding or concern about working conditions and agreements. If a worker files a complaint about a potential violation of their rights, these records are important in the investigation process.
