Project Description

We are upgrading streetlight poles and underground equipment across our service area to improve energy efficiency and safety. This work does not require planned power outages.

Community Benefits

  • New underground electrical wiring will enhance streetlight reliability.
  • New streetlights will be more energy efficient and improve street visibility and safety.
  • Buried electrical equipment will make future streetlight repairs easier.

Anticipated Impacts

During construction, customers can expect:

  • Limited parking and sidewalk access within the work zone.
  • Construction signs and flaggers redirecting pedestrian and vehicle traffic where needed to maintain safety.
  • Some noise during work hours.
  • Restoration to follow Seattle Department of Transportation restoration guidelines.

Current Projects

Crews replaced three failed streetlights and related underground equipment. They also built new curb ramps at the McGraw Street and Morley Place intersection.

Crews replaced two streetlights and related underground equipment along the 3500 block of NE 155th Street.

Crews are replacing three streetlights and related underground equipment in the median of 15th Avenue. We expect the lights to be on in summer 2025.

Crews are replacing five streetlights and related underground equipment along the 2600 block of Magnolia Blvd. We expect the lights to be on in summer 2025.

Crews are replacing five streetlights and related underground equipment along the 14000 block of Lake City Way. They will also install new sidewalk on the east side of Lake City Way. We expect the lights to be on in summer 2025.

Crews are replacing four streetlights and related underground equipment along the 1500 block of 16th Ave E. They are also installing new sidewalk on the west side of 16th Ave E between Garfield and Galer streets. We expect the lights to be on in summer 2025.

Construction Start: Late April 2025

Duration: 6 weeks

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Crews are replacing the entire lighting system beneath the I-5 overpass at S Dearborn St. We expect the lights to be on in fall 2025.

Construction Start: June 2025

Duration: 12 weeks

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Night work as needed: 7 p.m. - 6 a.m.

Upcoming Projects

Crews will replace the entire lighting system beneath the I-5 overpass at Weedin Pl. They expect to start work by fall 2025.

Crews will replace three streetlights and related underground equipment at the intersection of Aurora Ave N and N40th St. They will also install new curb ramps at the same intersection. Crews expect to start work by winter 2025.

Crews will replace three streetlights and related underground equipment. They expect to start work in early 2026.

Crews will replace two streetlights and related underground equipment. They expect to start work in 2026.

Crews will replace the entire lighting system beneath the I-5 overpass at James St. They expect to start work in 2026.
