Project Description

Seattle City Light is replacing 14 poles between Ashworth Ave North and Stone Ave North from North 160th Street to North 165th Street. The new poles will be placed in the right-of-way.

City Light will require scheduled power outages for crews to complete this work safely. Power outages are planned for Wednesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

City Light is using a 190-foot crane to complete the work. The crane will arrive at the site at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13. City Light will let property owners know if access is required near their property. The crane will be staged on North 160th Street in between Interlake Ave N and Ashworth Ave N on the south side of the street.

Community Benefits

  • This project will enhance safety by replacing utility poles. The installation of new poles, wires, and equipment will also improve system reliability.

Anticipated Impacts

  • Customers can expect temporary street closures, parking restrictions, and traffic restrictions during this project. Please adhere to all posted signs. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone if needed.
  • City Light will need to use a crane in some areas to complete the work. City Light will let property owners know if access is required near their property. The crane will arrive at the site at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13.
  • Power outages are required to do the work safely. Power outages are planned for Wednesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The new poles will be placed alongside pre-existing poles and meet the standards required for overhead power line construction.
  • Once crews have relocated the electrical equipment, they will remove the old poles. City Light is working closely with Ziply Fiber to coordinate moving communications cables. City Light will continue to monitor/coordinate as needed to facilitate the removal of old poles.
