Project Description

Seattle City Light contracted crews will be working on SW Holly Street (between 40th and 41st avenues SW) to repair and reconstruct the underground streetlight system.

What's Happening Now?

Project Update (Feb. 2021): This work has been completed. The repaired streetlight system is now operational.

Community Benefits

  • This work will result in a repaired underground streetlight system for the Gatewood area.

Anticipated Impacts

  • Trenching will occur along SW Holly Street to repair the streetlight wiring. Construction will occur during the holiday season.
  • Crews will maintain access for driveways near the work zone.
  • Traffic may be impacted during this work. Traffic control flaggers will direct access through the work zone as needed.
  • Sidewalks may be impacted during this project. Signs will be posted to redirect pedestrian traffic.
  • All affected planting strips within the right-of-way will be restored.
  • Some parking will be restricted on SW Holly Street for truck staging and equipment storage.
  • Maintenance power outages are not anticipated for this work.
  • Existing streetlights will be replaced with new fixtures and poles.

  • Construction Start: Early December 2020
  • Duration: Four to five weeks
  • Daily Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
