Project Description

Seattle City Light crews will be working inside the Laurelhurst Substation to remove aging equipment and install new electrical conduit.

Location

The Laurelhurst Substation is located south of the Laurelhurst Park Tennis Courts on NE 41st Street.

What's Happening Now?

Project Update (February 2022): The remaining work has been rescheduled to mid-summer 2022.

Community Benefits

  • This work is needed to upgrade the electrical infrastructure in the Laurelhurst neighborhood.

Anticipated Impacts

  • Crews will be working inside the Laurelhurst Substation to remove an old transformer concrete pad and other associated equipment. Crews will also trench and install new electrical conduit.
  • An excavator will be used during construction, which may produce some loud noises.
  • Maintenance power outages are not planned during this work.
  • Customers can expect some parking, sidewalk and traffic restrictions along NE 41st Street.

  • Construction Start: As early as mid-January 2021
  • Duration: To be determined (due to concrete union strike)
  • Daily Work Schedule:
    • Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
    • Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
