Project Description

Seattle City Light crews will be installing an underground duct bank (groups of conduits used to protect electrical cables) on 4th Avenue, near Jefferson Street. This work is needed to maintain electrical reliability for the downtown core.

The duct bank installation is located within downtown Seattle on 4th Avenue, near Jefferson Street.

This project has been completed.

Community Benefits

  • Completion of this work will allow City Light to maintain electrical reliability in the downtown core.
  • This work will provide additional capacity for future electrical growth in the downtown core.

Anticipated Impacts

  • Crews will be trenching on the right two lanes on 4th Avenue, between Jefferson and Terrace streets.
  • Customers can expect temporary parking, sidewalk and traffic restrictions during this project. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone.
  • Some parking will be taken up on Jefferson Street for equipment storage.
  • Crews will maintain access for businesses and parking lots affected by construction.
  • Some noise is expected from construction activities.
  • Maintenance power outages are not expected. If outages are needed, customers will be notified in advance.
