Community Service Plan

Seattle Municipal Court allows eligible people to pay fines and fees by completing community service.

If you are receiving or are eligible to receive government financial assistance, you may be able to perform community service work at an approved charitable organization instead of paying. You will need to provide proof that you are receiving government financial assistance. Please submit a photo or scan of your proof of government financial assistance via email to: SMC_Infractions_Ops@seattle.gov.

The court accepts online applications for community service plans. To apply, complete the form below. This application is for non-criminal obligations. (For example: traffic, non-traffic, parking, traffic camera tickets). There is no fee for community service plans.

If your community service plan request is approved, the court will send you a list of agencies to choose from and a timesheet for the agency to record your hours and sign. You will have at least 30 days to complete your hours, with more time if your plan is for more than 15 hours.

If you want us to contact you by email, please make sure you add an email in the form below. If your request is not approved, we will contact you to tell you why and discuss your options.

Common reasons a payment plan request may be denied:

  • You requested and were approved for a previous community service plan that you failed to complete. (Within the past 365 days).
  • You did not provide proof of government assistance.
  • The case/ticket is in collections.

You can go here to learn how to look up tickets or cases or call Customer Service at (206) 684-5600 and ask for help locating your court obligations. Language assistance is available.

If you do not hear from the court about the status of your community service plan application within 7 days, please contact us at (206) 684-5600 or email SMC_Infractions_Ops@seattle.gov.
