Probation Services
By providing post-trial case management, Probation Services supports individuals with court-ordered obligations to address underlying challenges, such as drug addiction, mental illness and homelessness, that interfere with positive behavioral change. Based on recommendations from the Vera Institute of Justice, we are evolving our probation services so that we can most effectively support clients to transition out of the criminal legal system permanently.

What We Do
Probation is a jail alternative in which counselors are paired with clients to support them as they meet court-ordered obligations, which often include engagement in drug treatment or other therapeutic interventions. The Community Resource Center, a resource hub within the courthouse offering connections to services such as employment support and housing assistance, is a vital part of our work to support clients.
The majority of probation clients have cases related to driving under the influence (DUI) or domestic violence charges. Probation counselors support all of Seattle Municipal Court's specialized court programs: Domestic Violence Intervention Project, Mental Health Court, and Seattle Veterans Treatment Court.
