Description:
This small stature tree will light up your landscape with its cup-shaped canary yellow flowers that arrive just before new leaves emerge. When you need to prune the tree, do it in mid-summer to limit suckering.

Where to Plant:
Perfect for under power lines or in small yard spaces. Not appropriate for larger yard spaces or planting strips without overhead power lines. 

Leaves:
Deciduous and green 

Flowers:
Cup shaped yellow flowers are fragrant. Blooms before leaf emergence. 

Fruit: 
Pickle shaped pod that eventually turns red. Usually not present. 

Preferred Site Conditions:
Full sun to light shade. Prefers moist but well drained soil.

No serious insect or disease problems in the Pacific Northwest

  • 5 feet from underground utility lines
