Captain Steve Strand

Captain Steve Strand began his career with the Seattle Police Department in 1991. His police experience began as a Military Police in the Army where he recently retired from the National Guard as a Command Sergeant Major. 

He has held various positions with the Department, working Patrol Operations at the South and North Precincts in Community Police Team, Bikes, and ACT. He has worked complex investigations, and undercover assignments with Vice, ICAC, and Criminal Intelligence Section. As a Sergeant and Lieutenant, he spent his time between the South and Southwest Precincts. 

Promoted to Captain in 2020, Strand served as a Night Duty Captain and commanded the Seattle Police Operations Center. Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Washington and graduated from both SPD's Command Leadership Program and the Senior Management Institute for Police.
