If you like kayaking or canoeing, Warren G. Magnuson Park offers access
to Lake Washington just for you! Shoreline launching is currently available
in two areas for hand-carried, non-motorized boats:
- The 30-foot section of shoreline located immediately to the east
of the Restroom Building Tower, south of the swimming beach. To get
there, enter the park at N.E. 65th Street from Sand Point
Way N.E. Go straight ahead to the lake, then left (north) along the
shoreline. Park next to Sand Point Head (Kite Hill) and the Fin Art
Project, near the swimming beach.
- The 100-foot section of shoreline just south of the public boat
launch area and north of the park's southern boundary. To get there,
enter the park at N.E. 65th Street from Sand Point Way
N.E. Go straight ahead to the lake and park.
- Sail Sand Point is Seattle's new community sailing center. It is
located on the north shore of Warren G. Magnuson Park, on Lake Washington.

In the future, you'll also have the option of launching non-motorized
boats from the North Shore of Sand Point Peninsula. Planning and design
for this launch site is underway. See developments for the North Shore Recreation Area.
Once on the lake, you might like to travel part of the Lakes-to-Locks
Water Trail, officially dedicated in August 2000 for hand-carried non-motorized
watercraft. Or you could paddle an estimated six to eight miles to the
University of Washington Arboretum.
