About

One of Seattle's stunning viewpoints, Emma Schmitz Overlook is a great place to stroll, jog, or sit and gaze across the water at the Olympic Mountains. In 2020-2021, the Army Corp of Engineers replaced the existing 500-foot-long seawall constructed in the 1920s that had experienced significant erosion and damage from storm events. Following the seawall replacement, Seattle Parks and Recreation installed a new irrigation system and landscaping. Emma Schmitz donated this shoreline overlook to the City of Seattle in 1945.
