SDCI Customer Service Options

Most services are available online through our Virtual Applicant Services Center. For customers who need language assistance or technical assistance accessing the Virtual ASC, we have an SDCI information desk on the 4th floor of the Seattle Municipal Tower. We offer limited access to our offices for scheduled public meetings.

Weeds & Vegetation Code

What Is It?

The Weeds and Vegetation Code applies to weeds and vegetation on private property that overrun on to any public right-of-way, including planting strips, streets, sidewalks, and alleys. Examples of vegetation are bushes and trees.

This ordinance does not regulate:

Overgrowth between private properties. Those issues should be settled between the property owners.
Vegetation interfering with power lines. Contact Seattle City Light or call (206) 684-3000.
Vegetation that is a fire hazard. Contact the Seattle Fire Department or call (206) 386-1450.
Overgrown vegetation on public property. Contact the Seattle Department of Transportation, Street Maintenance Division or call (206) 684-7623.
