We'd like to invite you to participate in the 2026 Stormwater Code and Manual update by attending the public meetings and providing comments during the public comment periods. See below for more information.

January 2026 Public Comment Period for 2nd Draft

The 2nd draft of the 2026 Seattle Stormwater Code and Manual will be released for public review the week of January 5, 2026. The draft documents of the Code and Manual will be posted on the Project Documents page. See the How to Comment section below for instructions to submit your comments. Please submit all comments by February 9, 2026.

Public Meeting for 2nd Draft. We're holding a public meeting to describe the changes in the second draft of the Seattle Stormwater Code and Manual:

  • Where: Online. Please register here to attend the Second Public Meeting.
  • When: January 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM. 

Additional Opportunities to Comment

There will be a City Council meeting, in spring 2026, where public comments will be accepted. We'll send announcements to the SDCI Stormwater Code email list. If you haven’t already, please subscribe now to receive announcements.

When commenting on the Stormwater Code or Manual, please include as much of the following information as you can:

  • Number and title of the code or manual section (for example: 22.805.070.D.a or Volume 1, Section 3.2)
  • Specific code language you’re suggesting
  • Explanation of why the code should be changed

We may not be able to respond to individual comments, but we will take all comments into consideration.

2025 Public Meetings and Draft Stormwater Code and Manual Update 

We began our public engagement for the 2026 Stormwater Code and Manual Update in the fall of 2024. We released the first public review draft on July 8, 2025, and a public meeting was held on July 15, 2025. Many public comments were received during the comment period. We held a fall Listening Session on September 25, 2025, to provide further information and confirm the key comments we received. More information is provided below. 

September 25, 2025 Fall Listening Session. The fall listening session clarified the rationale for some of the changes, confirmed we understooand the comments we received during the first public review, and provided for an open discussion for questions and feedback. A summary of our initial responses to the public comments can be found in the Summary of Changes to Stormwater Code & Manual. 

July/August 2025 Public Comment Period for First Draft. The first public review draft comment period was July 8 - August 15, 2025. We've posted the draft documents on the Project Documents page. 

July 15, 2025 Virtual Public Meeting. We held a public meeting on July 15, 2025 to describe the proposed changes in the 1st first draft of the 2026 Stormwater Code and Manual.
