Summer Learning Enhancement RFI
The Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL) is requesting applications from community-based organizations and city agencies for DEEL’s Summer Learning Enhancement Request for Investment (RFI). Funded by the Families, Education, Preschool and Promise Levy, this RFI seeks to expand or enhance existing community-based summer programs for Seattle K-12 students.
Since spring 2020, the pandemic limited important resources families, schools, and CBOs had to meet the social, emotional, mental health and academic needs of students. For students furthest from educational justice, remote learning and limited or inconsistent access to programs and services has compounded existing inequities. DEEL is committed to advancing educational equity through access to summer programs for those youth most heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Who can apply and for how much money:
Community-based organizations and city agencies are eligible to apply.
DEEL will invest up to $1 million in one-time funding for programming that occurs between June-August 2022, with up to 25 applicants eligible to receive between $10,000 and $75,000 per awardee.
Types of programs that can be funded:
To serve youth furthest from educational justice and most impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, applicants may submit proposals that expand or enhance summer programming in one of the three areas:
- Academic Learning
- Social-Emotional Learning and Enrichment
- College and Career Readiness
How applicants will be selected:
Funding will be awarded through a competitive request for investment process managed by DEEL. Applications will be evaluated using specific criteria outlined in the RFI application and review panel recommendations.
Timeline:
Eligible applicants will submit a grant application online no later than 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Deel will notify successful applicants by Friday May 20, 2022.
