Seattle Human Resources believes in the power of proactive health for a thriving and resilient workforce. We are committed to an intentional approach that empowers individuals to take charge of their well-being.  

With the Proactive Well-being Initiative for 2024, we aim to: 

  • Embrace a whole-person holistic approach that contributes to personal and professional well-being for a vibrant workforce. 
  • Build a population of savvy healthcare consumers who maximize their benefits through preventive care, PCP relationships, early detections, and managing conditions.
  • Encourage engagement with benefits and programs – Advocacy and navigation support, Hinge Health, Mental Health Benefits, Expert Medical Opinion, learning resources, and more.

The third quarter Proactive Mental Well-being theme spotlights using benefits and resources to support emotional balance. Self-compassion, resiliency, mindfulness, and overcoming challenges are featured in the below collection of programs and materials. 

NEW Employee Assistance Program - ComPsych

The City of Seattle has partnered with a new Employee Assistance Program services provider, ComPsych.  The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) supports all City of Seattle employees and their household members with personal issues and mental health concerns at no cost.

July - Minority Mental Health Awareness Month 


July is designated as National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month in honor of Bebe Moore Campbell’s trailblazing work to uplift underrepresented communities. Culture, ethnicity, and race all play a role in the way that each person experiences the world and have profound effects on mental health for Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC). The NAMI and Mental Health America resources below provide actions we can take to raise awareness and destigmatize mental health in communities of color.

Accolade Health Assistants are a helpful resource in finding in-network care when you need it. Proactive health might mean scheduling your preventive screenings, making an appointment with a mental health provider or staying on top of your medications. Whatever it means for you, Accolade is available to make navigating healthcare easier.
