This is a nice small neighborhood park, with one big tree, picnic table, two benches, planted area, and a small lawn area perfect for romping.
York Park was originally the site of City Light's York Substation, named for the subdivision it served. York was a prominent Seattle lawyer in the 1870s. He came to Seattle in 1871 at the age of 25 and was elected Judge of the Probate Court of King County the next year. He served two terms in that office, then departed for California, where he again practiced law and served as a district attorney for Los Angeles County and later as a judge of the Superior Court there.
