About

Hitt's Hill is a 3.2-acre wooded hilltop on the southwest end of Columbia City that was once home to the Hitt's Fireworks factory. Thomas Gabriel Hitt founded the Hitt Brothers Firework Company on the hill in about 1905. From the top of the hill, it is possible to view Lake Washington, downtown Seattle and the Rainier Valley. The family-run fireworks company is credited with creating pyrotechnics for the movie "Gone With the Wind," as well as providing fireworks for shows at Green Lake and Ivar's Fourth of July celebrations through the 1970s.
