Green Economy

The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics defines green jobs as:

  • Jobs in businesses that produce goods or provide services that benefit the environment or conserve natural resources.
  • Jobs in which workers’ duties involve making their establishment’s production processes more environmentally friendly or use fewer natural resources.

Green jobs cut across many industries and industry sectors. The production and use of clean energy resources is a major focus of green jobs in the Seattle area. OED works closely with Seattle employers  and the Seattle Office of Sustainability and Environment to address climate change and implement the Seattle Green New Deal.

To support our growing green economy, Seattle OED developed a Clean Energy Resource Map to visualize relationships between clean energy resource providers and the tools and services available to green entrepreneurs.
