Health Services
Health services is a key industry in Seattle’s economy that provides medical services to improve the health of our region, conduct research and development, and facilitate education and training for its workforce. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 16 percent growth in employment from 2020-2030. One in five jobs in Seattle are tied to healthcare — the industry employs more than 90,000 medical workers and contributes annual wages of $4.2 billion. The Seattle Office of Economic Development (OED) supports capacity building for the healthcare ecosystem through partnership and funding to community organizations, education, and training institutes. Key Industries and Workforce Development and the Equitable Communities Initiative have invested over $2.5 million dollars in funding to provide more opportunities and non-traditional career pathways to those furthest from education and training. The healthcare industry provides services and products which include:
