One Seattle Technology Priorities
For 2024, the Seattle Information Technology department developed the following priorities to support Mayor Harrell's One Seattle initiatives:
Cybersecurity
Implement new tools and practices to ensure security and reliability for our departments and protect the public's data. Examples of this include the implementation of new cybersecurity tooling to monitor and control network endpoints, applications, and data; and a focus on workforce security training.
Civic Engagement
Improve the City's transparency and service to the public. This includes the development of Civiform, a one-stop shop for discount and affordability programs offered by the City and its partners, as well as expanded publication of data via our Open Data program.
Internet for All
Continue to close the digital divide by connecting Seattle residents to low-cost internet service, devices, and training opportunities, and award Technology Matching Fund grants to community organizations. This work also includes the publication of our Technology Access and Adoption Study, which guides the City’s investments in digital equity programs and funding.
IT Project Delivery
Achieve greater fiscal responsibility by improving the delivery of IT projects on time and on budget. This work was enabled by the implementation of a unified IT project portfolio, allowing the City to track all capital investments on IT project work in a single place.
IT Service Delivery
Improve responsiveness and timely resolution of client incidents and requests. On this, Seattle IT is focusing on metrics such as response time, resolution time, first contact resolution, and customer service, and has met or exceeded all targets over the last 3 years.
In addition, Seattle IT and the Mayor’s Office of Innovation and Performance are partnering to lead the One Seattle Data Strategy, a three-year plan that will be the City’s first comprehensive and cohesive effort to address how we collect, store, use, and share data internally and externally.
