State Relations

The City's state lobbying team engages state legislators and the Governor's office on issues of local and statewide significance. Their efforts are guided by the City's legislative agenda, which is proposed by the Mayor and adopted by the City Council before the start of each legislative session.

Areas of primary focus for the City’s efforts in Olympia include human services, education, transportation, economic development and infrastructure, public safety, and city fiscal health.

The state lobbyists work with the Association of Washington Cities and other organizations in the state of Washington to promote common interests.
