Pathways to Innovation, Vitality, & Organizational Transformation

(PIVOT)

We've launched a pilot grant program to help arts and cultural organizations adapt their business models, approaches, and practices to today’s challenges. The Pathways to Innovation, Vitality & Organizational Transformation (PIVOT) Program is a one-time, two-year pilot offering general funding, regular advising and coaching, and opportunities for organizations to connect and collaborate. This support is designed to help organizations become more sustainable and resilient, tackling issues like pandemic impacts, revenue struggles, and outdated operating structures.

With this program, we’re testing a new way to provide comprehensive support to arts and culture organizations through a cohort model that encourages collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the sector. PIVOT is our latest effort to offer capital-level investments to arts and culture organizations and invest in the permanency of Seattle's arts and culture infrastructure.

In 2025, we ran a competitive RFP process and chose Road Openers as our partner to design and implement the program. That fall, we invited all of our organizational grantees from 2019 to 2025 to apply. Out of 115 applications, panelists interviewed 30 finalists and selected 15 organizations to join the pilot cohort. They are receiving two years of grant funding totaling $3 million. Two additional organizations received single-year seed funding to kickstart their transformation.
