2025 Human Rights Day

In celebration of Human Rights Day, we are hosting a community event to spread awareness and advocate for human rights. Our theme this year is about celebrating our community and uplifting community voices. Join us for a day of speeches, resources from local organizations, music, and free food. This event is hosted in partnership by the Seattle Human Rights Commission and the University of Washington's Center for Human Rights. 

2024 Human Rights Day 

In 2024, the Seattle Human Rights commission hosted Human Rights Day 2024: Beyond Barriers - Empowering Equity & Opportunity Within The Community!

The event aimed to bridge educational divides within our community by connecting attendees to local resources and programs. The program included a resource fair and speakers that will provide information about opportunities throughout Seattle.

2022 Human Rights Day

The 2022 Human Rights Day event theme was “Reaffirming Human Rights in Seattle.” The hybrid event was held at Town Hall on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 7:00 - 8:30pm.


2020 Human Rights Day

The celebration of Seattle Human Rights Day provides an opportunity to honor a Seattle-area organization or individual who has advanced human rights locally, nationally, or internationally. In 2020, the Human Rights Commission highlighted Black voices. Community members from King County Equity Now, Decriminalize Seattle, Converge Media, Black Trans Task Force, and Morning March Seattle hosted a discussion on the Black Experience in Seattle.
