Save Time, File and Pay Online

No walk-in service for business license and tax customers is currently available in the Seattle Municipal Tower. All in-person customers must make an appointment. Business license and tax customers should file their business taxes online at www.FileLocal-wa.gov. Those needing a regulatory license (e.g. adult entertainers and for-hire drivers) should make an appointment with the Consumer Protection Division

  • Apply, renew, file and pay business taxes and license fees.

  • File using the automated phone system if you had less than $100,000 in revenue last tax year and do not owe taxes or fees.
  • You will need your City of Seattle customer number and tax obligation number to use this service.

  • Business license tax certificates cannot be renewed by phone. Renewal payments must be submitted online or through the mail.

  • All tax returns and license fees can be paid and submitted though the US Postal Service.

In-Person

License and Tax Administration is offering limited in-person assistance on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. You must make an appointment to receive in-person assistance. No walk-in customer service is available. Appointments only.

Payments for Seattle City Light and Seattle Public Utilities can be made:

Money orders are available free of charge at any Wells Fargo branch in Seattle city limits. Include the following information with your check or money order when depositing it at a drop box location:

  • Your name and contact information, so we can reach you if there are questions.
  • The bill or invoice you received OR
  • The account number or invoice number you are paying.
  • If you do not have an account number or invoice number, please provide the department contact, name and/or phone you are working with.

Your payment will be processed as soon as possible. Pet licenses can be purchased online here.

Court tickets can be paid online here.
