Short Term Truck – Downtown Traffic Control Zone Conditions of Use
SMC 11.14.165 DOWNTOWN TRAFFIC CONTROL ZONE. “Downtown Traffic Control Zone“ means the area within the district bounded as follows: Beginning at the southwest corner of First Avenue and Lenora Street, thence southerly along the west margin of First Avenue to the north margin of Yesler Way, thence easterly along the north margin of Yesler Way to the west margin of Fifth Avenue, thence northerly along the west margin of Fifth Avenue to the north margin of Madison Street, thence easterly along the north margin of Madison Street to the west margin of Eighth Avenue, thence northerly along the west margin of Eighth Avenue to the south margin of Lenora Street, thence westerly along the south margin of Lenora Street to the west margin of First Avenue.
- Vehicles 30 feet long and longer may move with a Downtown Traffic Control Zone permit from 9 AM – 3 PM, and from 7 PM – 6 AM without permit. Curfews shall be in effect from 6 – 9 AM and 3 – 7 PM, except Saturdays and Sundays.
- A Downtown Traffic Control Zone Permit is required on Saturdays for vehicles that are 30 feet or longer; curfews are not in effect.
- The above restrictions are not in effect on Sundays.
- Over dimensional vehicles (as described in SMC 11.60) shall not move within the Downtown Traffic Control Zone between 6 AM and 7 PM.
- Over dimensional vehicle (as described in SMC 11.60) permit or validation number shall be required for movement within the zone between 7 PM and 6 AM.
Indemnification: The permit holder agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the City of Seattle, its officials, officers, employees, and agents against: (1) any liability, claims, causes of action, judgments, or expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, resulting directly or indirectly from any act or omission of any permit holder, anyone directly or indirectly employed by them, and anyone for whose acts or omissions they may be liable, arising out of the permit holder's use of the public right-of-way; and (2) all loss by the failure of the permit holder to fully or adequately perform, in any respect, all authorizations or obligations under the Permit.
